Southern California Alcohol & Drug Programs, Inc. has developed Drug & Alcohol Counseling Services, (D.A.C.S.) as required under California's Penal Code (1001.1 through 1001.00, inclusive, referring to the procedure of postponing prosecution of an offense filed as a misdemeanor either temporarily or permanently at any point in the judicial process until adjudication occurs). D.A.C.S. is a drug diversion program divided into three separate components termed "tracks." Clients are placed in the appropriate track most suited to their individual needs and/or court requirements. Track I is a court-ordered and accredited drug/alcohol diversion program. It is 20 weeks in length and requires completion of 18 one hour education classes, 18 one and one-half hour group sessions, five hours of individual counseling, plus twenty 12 Step support group meetings. Track II provides more intensive counseling and is 26 weeks in length. Clients must participate in twice weekly group therapy and education sessions, 13 one-half hour individual counseling sessions every other week, twenty-six 12 Step meetings and urinalysis drug testing three times a week. Track II serves those clients who are referred by the Department of Children's Services and probation/parole departments. Track III is a modified Track II program which serves those clients who voluntarily request an outpatient drug and alcohol counseling program or who are referred by an employee assistance program.
